The Age of Enlightenment
Lesson 2:
Between 1600 and 1800 there was an explosion of new ideas in Europe. Scientists (=Wissenschaftler) made dramatic discoveries, thinkers questioned the power of their rulers and some writers challenged (= hinterfragen) the teachings of the Church. Many people started to see the World in a new light, and the 18th century became known as the Age of Enlightenment.
